David Blakely
David Blakely is a playwright, director, actor, musician, songwriter, and the Playwright-in-Residence emeritus for Heller Theatre Company of Tulsa, OK. His full-length plays include Trade Privileges, The Deaths of Sybil Bolton, The Light Fantastic, For Your Examination, Frankenstein (a Kennedy Center Mark Cohen Award finalist), Tales of Shoogilly (a SETC Getchell Award Winner), Enemy of the People [adapted from the Ibsen play], and Hank the Cow Dog and Monkey Business (a musical based on John R. Erickson’s book). His short plays include “Hot Water Chocolate Cake” (chosen for the Mid America Theatre Conference), “… The Oceans Would Be Full,” “Ars Longa Vita Ferris,” “The Next Blue Moon”, “7 Doorways/7 Stories,” and many more. He has received recognition for his direction of The Curious Case of the Dog in the Night-time, and Four Ways to Die. He earned an MFA from the Iowa Playwrights Workshop. He is Theatre Program Director at Rogers State University.
