Brigitte Viellieu-Davis
Brigitte Viellieu-Davis is an award-winning playwright, performer and producer. She has worked with theatrical pioneers Anna Deavere Smith and Eve Ensler, and has created initiatives for and consulted with such organizations as The Rubin Museum of Art, NYU’s School for Art & Public Policy, The Actors Fund Home, Educators for Social Responsibility, The Institute on the Arts & Civic Dialogue, Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, Urban Stages, & Women's Project Theater. She holds an M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University, and is a member of Actors Equity, SAG/AFTRA, Ensemble Studio Theatre & EST’s Playwrights Unit. Her full-length play IN A House That Jack Built was a semifinalist for the 2018 O’Neill Conference and the 2020 New Play Series at Unicorn Theatre. In January 2020, Brigitte & Tere founded and now organize, El Colectivo, a playwright collective of prominent playwrights living in PR who share resources, create together and advocate for and promote theater in PR. https://www.facebook.com/ElColectivoPR
Regional Rep: Puerto Rico
Tere Martínez and Brigitte Vielleau-Davis are the first Dramatists Guild Reps for Puerto Rico. This new representation for Puerto Rico comes at a historic time for the American theater. We want to contribute to the change happening nationwide by ensuring BIPOC stories and voices are represented on stages all over the country. Tere and Brigitte are committed to making sure Puerto Rico has the visibility it deserves as the American theater moves towards a more inclusive one. We are eager to start collaborations with other artists in the United States and the world. We invite other DG Reps and ambassadors to reach out to us and start creating together.
Tere Martínez y Brigitte Vielleau-Davis son las primeras representantes del Dramatists Guild en Puerto Rico. Esta nueva representación en Puerto Rico llega en un momento histórico para el teatro de los Estados Unidos. Queremos contribuir al cambio que está ocurriendo en toda la nación y asegurar que las historias y voces minoritarias sean representadas en los escenarios de todo el país. Tere y Brigitte están comprometidas a que Puerto Rico tenga la visibilidad que merece mientras el teatro estadounidense se mueve hacia uno de mucha más inclusión.
