What is a favorite memory from this season?

Being able to experience opening night with my wife, daughter, and immediate family is a memory I will hold on to for the rest of my life. It was a blessing to be able to do so after working on Thoughts of a Colored Man for so many years.

What is a great bit of advice about playwriting you’ve given or received?

I usually tell young writers to get your ideas out of your head and onto the page. Know that the first draft won’t be gold, but you will find it in the editing and development process. Katori Hall once told me to never abandon my voice and to always find my truth in my writing.
