Our Tribute to Joey Stocks
JOHN KANDER is an American composer, known largely for his work in the musical theatre. As part of the songwriting team Kander and Ebb (with lyricist Fred Ebb), Kander wrote the scores for fifteen musicals, including Cabaret (1966) and Chicago (1975)—both of which were later adapted into acclaimed films—Kiss of the Spider Woman, and The Scottsboro Boys. Among his numerous awards including three Tonys, two Emmys, two Grammys, and an Olivier, he received a Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2023. He joined the Guild in 1960 and has served on its Council since 1998.
