Our Tribute to Joey Stocks
What is a favorite memory from this season?
Undoubtably my favorite memory of this past season has got to be when Scott [Wittman] and I were invited to celebrate Some Like it Hot’s thirteen Tony nominations by going down to Marie’s Crisis piano bar in the West Village for a Shaiman/Wittman sing-a-long. Scott and I met at Marie’s in 1976 (1976!), and then I worked there for a few months (I was secretly only sixteen years old, playing in a bar—ssh, don’t tell them; the statute of limitations may not have expired!).
