Danielle Wirsansky is a playwright, dramaturg, and story teller. She has a BA in Theatre, BA in English (Creative Writing), MA in History (Modern European History/Public History), and will begin her PhD Studies in History at Florida State University this fall. Danielle is passionate about using theatre and playwriting as a platform for public history (historians working and connecting knowledge together with the community). Her works are often historical, written about real people, places, and things, in an attempt to blend and straddle the line between theatre and public history. She was awarded a Young Theatremacher Fellowship from the Alliance for Jewish Theatre in 2017 for creating plays and musicals educating communities on Holocaust history.

In the past, she served as a Casting Assistant for the English National Theatre of Israel and the Producer’s Apprentice for Infinity Theatre Company. Danielle was also the founding Artistic Director (2016-2018) for White Mouse Productions, a theatre company in Tallahassee, FL, dedicated to social change (and she looks forward to rejoining the company as she moves back to Tallahassee later this year). She then went on to serve as the Associate Managing Director of a leading regional theatre in Vermont. Currently, she works as the Project Manager of the Rosenstrasse Foundation, dedicated to honoring the memory of the women protestors of the Rosenstrasse Protest in Berlin, Germany in 1943, as well serves as an adjunct faculty member of Jacksonville University’s History Department.

Danielle’s works have been performed in all sorts of different places and venues. Her works have been performed as domestically in such places as Charlotte, NC, Plano, Tx, and Detroit, MI and as far away as in Viborg, Denmark, London, England, and Sligo, Ireland. Her works have been produced at Florida State University, the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust (NYC). She has also been awarded more than $10,000 in grant money to do dramaturgical research for and produce her works.

Danielle is a member of the Florida Conference of Historians, the Georgia Association of Historians, the Society for Military History, and 365 Women A Year, an exciting international playwriting project that writes 365 new plays each year about real life women in order to preserve and share their stories. Danielle has been involved with this playwriting project since its inauguration in 2014. Danielle joined the Dramatists Guild during her graduate studies and has been a member ever since.
