Iam fascinated by language, especially when it comes to new (or new-ish) phrases and word combinations.

For instance, I have despised and over-analyzed “social distancing” ever since I first heard it. To me, this phrase is passive-aggressive. On the surface, it’s saying “Stay safe! See, I care about you!” But there’s also the dark underlying message of “Remain isolated and don’t talk to each other.” Humans are naturally social creatures. Bad things happen when we don’t socialize. (See history.)
