John is a recent Massachusetts Cultural Council Artist Fellow in Dramatic Writing and New Repertory Theatre Playwriting Fellow. He has had new work commissioned by Gloucester Stage Company, Lyric Stage Company of Boston, and others. His Queen of Sad Mischance was the winner of the 2022  Judith Royer Award for Excellence from The Kennedy Center/ATHE and the 2022 Louise Wigglesworth Award from The Lab Theater of Florida, and was a winner of the 2019 Clauder Competition and the 2020 New American Voices Festival. Noir Hamlet was a Boston Globe Critics’ Pick, an EDGEMedia Best of Boston Theater selection for 2018, and an Elliot Norton nominee for Outstanding New Script. His plays have been developed with the Orlando Shakespeare Theater, Portland Stage Company, the Great Plains Theatre Conference, the New American Playwrights Project at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, Greater Boston Stage Company, and Actors’ Repertory Theatre of Vermont. His work is published by Applause, YouthPLAYS, Theatrefolk, and Smith & Kraus. John is the Dramatists Guild Ambassador for the Boston area.
