Kait Kerrigan
Kait Kerrigan is an award-winning playwright, bookwriter, and lyricist. Off-Broadway: THE MAD ONES, HENRY & MUDGE - book and lyrics, both written with composer Bree Lowdermilk. Her Edgerton Award-winning play FATHER/DAUGHTER finished a world premiere production at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley in fall of 2021. Her musical JUSTICE world premiered at the Arizona Theatre Company in April 2022. Upcoming projects include THE TIME TRAVELLER'S WIFE (add'l lyrics for Joss Stone and Dave Stewart's score), THE GREAT GATSBY (book, lyrics by Nathan Tysen, music by Jason Howland), and ERNXST, a gender-expansive musical adaptation of "The Importance of Being Earnest" for Concord Theatricals. During the pandemic, she wrote the book for the digital musical A KILLER PARTY (filmed completely in quarantine and streaming on Amazon and licensed by MTI). She has also written lyrics for ROSIE REVERE, ENGINEER & FRIENDS which is currently touring, and EARTHRISE, for the Kennedy Center's fiftieth anniversary celebration of the moon landing. Her chart-topping albums include OUR FIRST MISTAKE, KERRIGAN-LOWDERMILK LIVE and THE MAD ONES. Other projects in development: lyrics for KILL THE BOYBAND; concept, book, and lyrics for the immersive house party THE BAD YEARS; book and lyrics for REPUBLIC (director: Michael Arden), and book and lyrics for IRENA. Other plays include IMAGINARY LOVE, TRANSIT, and DISASTER RELIEF. Her plays and musicals have been developed by La Jolla, Kennedy Center, Theatreworks/Silicon Valley, Primary Stages, Goodspeed, and others. Awards: Kleban, Larson, Edgerton, Theatre Hall of Fame Most Promising Lyricist. She has held residencies at MacDowell, Goodspeed's Johnnie Mercer Project, Rhinebeck, and others.
