Rita Anderson
Rita Anderson was the Dramatists Guild Regional Rep (AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO). Rita's a published and an award-winning playwright with an MFA Creative Writing and an MA Playwriting. A national winner at Kennedy Center (KCACTF), she went on scholarship to the O’Neill. Frantic is the Carousel was the National Partners American Theatre nominee, and Rita won the Ken Ludwig Playwriting Award from the Kennedy Center for “Best Body of Work.” She has had over 100 productions and publications, worldwide, to include Final Conversations, Early Liberty, Woman Hollering Creek, The 27 Club, and Saint Somebody, which are “Best-Selling Plays” with the publishers. Rita is published in The Best New Ten-Minute Plays anthologies with Smith & Kraus (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022), and She Persisted: Best New Ten-Minute Plays by Women 40+ (Introduction, Theresa Rebeck. Applause Books). And both of her books of poetry, The Entropy of Rocketman, and Watched Pots (A Lovesong to Motherhood), been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Rita was faculty at Interlochen (Co-Director Theatre Ensemble & Acting Intensive), and she served on the International Center for Women Playwrights (ICWP) Social Media Team. She is a member of the B.
