Tere Martínez is a Puerto Rican playwright and educator.  Her commitment to education has inspired her to write about a wide variety of socially relevant topics.  Her plays have been produced both in the United States and in Puerto Rico.  Plays include Borinquen vive en El Barrio, Mi última noche con Rubén Blades, For mi chichí, Memory of an Ending and Snake Island.  Tours include Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Tacoma Arts Center, Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater and CityParks (NYC).  Commissions for theaters and schools include Chain Reaction, Nihonjin Face, Grit, Literal, I Want You by My Side, and and there’s always the stars….”  Tere’s plays have been studied in Latino studies and literature programs at several universities.  Her work has been featured in books and publications about Latino theatre in the United States. Tere is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.  www.teremartinez.com

Tere is also the Artistic and Education Director of Roots and Action, an educational theater program designed for Puerto Rican high school students. Regional Rep: Puerto Rico

Tere Martínez and Brigitte Vielleau-Davis are the first Dramatists Guild Reps for Puerto Rico. This new representation for Puerto Rico comes at a historic time for the American theater. We want to contribute to the change happening nationwide by ensuring BIPOC stories and voices are represented on stages all over the country. Tere and Brigitte are committed to making sure Puerto Rico has the visibility it deserves as the American theater moves towards a more inclusive one. We are eager to start collaborations with other artists in the United States and the world. We invite other DG Reps and ambassadors to reach out to us and start creating together.

Esta nueva representación en Puerto Rico llega en un momento histórico para el teatro de los Estados Unidos.
